A native of Austin, Texas, Dr. Jacobson graduated from Baylor College of Medicine. He completed his residency at Vanderbilt University Medical Center and is board certified in emergency medicine. He has been part of the faculty at Vanderbilt since graduation. His current research interest includes utilizing web based programs to facilitate continuous quality improvement programs in health care settings. He is the co-inventor of the Kaizen Tracker, a web-based program that has been in continuous use in the Emergency Department since 2005. In 2009, he moved to Austin, Texas to be closer to family and to launch his start-up KaiNexus (www.kainexus.com) which aims to be the first company to offer software designed to deliver a quality improvement program. He continues an affiliation with the department due to his research and work with KaiNexus.
