Background

Dr. Rohde is a graduate of the University of Texas Medical School in San Antonio and completed his residency in Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt, and served as Chief Resident in 2002-2003. After two years in Texas during which he combined the practice of community Emergency Medicine with an academic role at the University of Texas Health Sciences Center in Houston, he returned to Vanderbilt to join the faculty in 2005.
Dr. Rohde’s interests include emergency medicine education, medical ethics and international medicine. He serves as the Course Director of the Vanderbilt School of Medicine’s required senior clinical clerkship in Emergency Medicine. As a 2009-2010 Vanderbilt Stahlman Scholar for Bioethics and Society he collaborated with others to explore sources of moral distress in the hospital emergency department. He also works closely with others in the Division of International Medicine on the Dr. Carmen Gannon-Project Dawn Guyana Healthcare Development Project which is supporting the development of an Emergency Medicine residency in Guyana, South America.
