Jeffry McKinzie, MD, FAAP, FACEP

Associate Professor of Emergency Medicine,Assistant Professor of Pediatrics 

Dr. McKinzie graduated from the Medical College of Virginia in 1986. He completed his internship in General Surgery at the University of Massachusetts, followed by an Emergency Medicine residency at the Methodist Hospital of Indiana where he served as Chief Resident.

Dr. McKinzie joined the Vanderbilt Emergency Medicine faculty in 1991. He is board certified in Emergency Medicine and Pediatric Emergency Medicine. He works as an attending physician in the Adult ED of Vanderbilt University Hospital, as well as the Pediatric ED of Vanderbilt Children’s Hospital. He serves as a member of the Patient Complaint Monitoring Committee within the Vanderbilt Center for Patient and Professional Advocacy. Dr. McKinzie’s interests include international emergency medicine, global health, travel medicine, medical missions, and healthcare volunteerism. He has volunteered in more than 25 clinical and educational medical missions in diverse global settings, including Guyana, Zambia, Uganda, Peru, Ecuador and Nicaragua. He has a lifelong interest in travel, having lived in France and Japan during his youth. He also enjoys photography, music and spending time with his family.
