Matthew Lipton, MD

Assistant Professor of Emergency Medicine

Dr. Lipton is a California native who completed his undergraduate studies at University of California, San Diego where he graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry/Cell Biology. He then moved to Chicago where he earned his medical degree from the Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine. During his 4th year in medical school, he was nominated into the Alpha Omega Alpha honor medical society for his leadership abilities and his educational achievement.

After graduating medical school, he moved to Nashville, TN to complete his residency in Emergency Medicine at Vanderbilt University. Following his residency, he moved to Salt Lake City, UT to complete a fellowship in Emergency Ultrasound at the University of Utah. His current research interests include critical care ultrasound and medical student education.


When not working in the ED, he enjoys snowboarding, rock climbing, hiking, and spending time with his wife, Leah.
