Dr. Katz was born and raised in Memphis, TN. He moved to Austin and attended The University of Texas for his undergraduate degree in Biology. He then went to The University of Texas Health Science Center in San Antonio for medical school. After medical school he matched to Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Washington University in St. Louis for his Emergency Medicine residency program. It was in St. Louis where Steven met his wife Lindsay and after he completed his chief resident year, they moved to Austin where they were married (something personal here?). After 3 wonderful years working in Texas they moved to Nashville to be closer to family and had their son. Steven has been working in the community for the past several years in Nashville before joining Vanderbilt's Emergency Medicine Department at Wilson County. On his days off from the Emergency Department you can usually find Steven spending time with his wife and son, walking their labradoodle Tucker, or reading fiction. Steven also enjoys cooking and developing recipes using his family as test subjects. Finally, Steven loves to exercise and has been doing Crossfit for over 7 years. He finds this is the best way to work away any tension from the day.
