Dr. Amanda Smith was born in Newburyport, MA, but spent most of her childhood in Montgomery, AL. She attended the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) for her undergraduate training and obtained a Master's of Science in Biotechnology before completing medical school at UAB in 2018. She went on to complete her Emergency Medicine residency training at UAB in 2021, receiving the David Andretti Memorial Award for compassionate patient care and her focus on resident and staff wellness. Dr. Smith was hired as faculty at UAB in 2021 before transitioning to Vanderbilt in 2022. Dr. Smith has practiced in a variety of both academic and community settings. She is passionate about undergraduate and graduate medical education, wellness, and mentorship. She currently serves as the Director of Undergraduate Medical Education. In her personal life, she enjoys traveling, live music, pilates, and spending time with her husband Doug and cat Bug.
